"Comfotable setting with excellent kitchen" The restaurant has several comfortable options for seating. The acoustics are good, so conversation is easy. Service was efficient and professional. The menu includes many interesting small plates and several entrees are available as 1/2 portions, so we were able to sample multiple items. All of our food was well prepared and attractively plated. There is a good selection of wines by the glass and a martini was generous and made as ordered. All prices were fair and appropriate.

"Several Small Plates Makes an Excellent Dinner" Stopped in Exeter on the way to a few days away in Maine. Went to the Epoch Restaurant and after looking over the menu we thought the best way to go would be a little of this and a little of that, so we put together an assortment of small plates and appetizers consisting of wild boar sausages, a small Caesar salad (with white anchovies) baked broccoli with cheddar cheese, duck confit poutine (my first pouting ever), and an roasted olive and almond plate. Everything was wonderful, tasty, and unique. Finished it off with a bowl of maple bourbon ice cream. Even the bread served with an assortment of garlic oil, hummus, and whipped butter was wonderful. As good as the food was, the service was even better. It was prompt, attentive, and caring. I recommend it highly.

"Classic and classy" A group of 15 enjoyed a delicious, pleasant breakfast at 9:00. The atmosphere was lovely. The menu was varied and reasonably priced. The servers were hospitable and accommodating. We are returning this month to enjoy it again.

"Top Notch!" This place hits on all cylinders. Upscale but not pretentious, romantic but laid back, classy, innovative and delicious. My server Tiffany was the perfect balance of talented, professional, and fun. They have a nice wine list, offering "sips" of wine (about 4 ounces), and they have a nice beer menu too! The culinary staff had their stuff together and each course was well balanced and perfectly presented. Wish I lived closer, I would be here every week! Don't second guess this one.... Just go!

"Excellent!" This restaurant is in the lovely old Exeter Inn. The service was great and the food was wonderful. We were a party of 8 and accommodated comfortably in a private room. We all enjoyed very good food and well mae drinks. My husband is very fussy about his martini, loved it and got another the following evening. We had breakfast there as well. The menu choices were creative and just what we all wanted at breakfast and dinner. The prices were extremely fair if not inexpensive at breakfast. We enjoyed this restaurant very much, would go back there again and we highly recommend the Epoch. Enjoy!

"Blueberry Pancakes to die for!" We stayed only one night at the Exeter Inn. Breakfast was excellent. We ordered the pancakes with a large cup of good, strong coffee. A perfect way to start a snowy New England Saturday morning.

"Elegant and Classy" We just love Epoch. The food and service is top notch. Brunch is unparalleled. The Mimosa's the best we have ever had. The bar area is so relaxing and the speciallty drinks creative and so good. Sunday Brunch is incredible and the Creme Braille the best around.

Came here with my mother for brunch and had a fantastic experience. The food was great (eggs cooked perfectly, stellar biscuit). Service matched or surpassed the food. Our server was warm, efficient and accommodating. Also an amazing value--only about $10 per entree. Highly recommend.

This place is hugely under-rated! I have no idea why it doesn't have 5 out of 5 stars. I spent 3 nights at the Exeter Inn and every night I had to eat at this place because the food was simply outstanding. Maybe their service slows down when they are busy, but what restaurant doesn't have that issue. I was served the absolute BEST duck I have ever eaten in my life. The green chili soup was out of this world. The Oysters Rockefeller were the best I have ever eaten. And this is all coming from a NYC foodie that has been to the best restaurants in NYC and some amazing restaurants all over the world. The bartenders and servers were incredibly friendly. I think I might make the 5 hour drive from NY just to visit Exeter and this restaurant again! Both the restaurant and the hotel are highly recommended!

Invited friends out for dinner. Made reservations for 6pm. Receptionist was friendly. Got to the restaurant a bit early. We got sat promptly, at a nice sized booth, with comfotable seating. Our server Angela, was very accommodating. Since our full party was not there, she was patient and understanding. She offered suggestions and was knowledgeable on the menus. We started with oysters, putine, and cabbage ruebens. Everything tasted wonderful. The beet salad was out of this world!! The menu was set up, so you could enjoy 1/2 portions, ordering a couple, if you are undecided. Very nice feature. Had the scallops and tune. Excellent!! Ended with the lime tart. Treat yourself ... to a great night of food and drinks.

I have to apologize that it did not occur to me to write this review sooner, becasue every meal we have ever had here has been absolutely superlative, from buffet brunches, to off the menu breakfasts, to casual meals in the lounge, to lunches in the dining room, to dinners in the dining room, and to special holiday dinners in the dining room. The food and drinks are aboslutely perfect, from quality of ingredients and preparation, to taste, presentation, and portion size. The service is consistently lovely, as is the setting and ambiance. I commented to my friend that "I don't know why we even bother going anywhere else." It is rare to find a place where you can always count on excellence to perfection.

We ate here every morning for the three days us and our wedding party stayed here for the inn. We filled most of the inn with our wedding party. Everyone thought the breakfasts were amazing. We didn't eat here for lunch or dinners, but their breakfasts were pretty affordable and delicious. They had a corned duck has confit under poached eggs. Good god. It was amazing. I got it twice. They also went above and beyond on a Sunday night and kept the bar open 2 hours later than they were supposed to, so the wedding party could have a night cap after the wedding. I love the Inn, all of the people were nice, especially for the way "some" of our wedding party behaved ... they didn't bother us once about being loud or drunks etc.
